I had a mini book haul on Friday.
Every year, the men’s group at a local church has a sale to raise money for whatever projects they want to focus on for the rest of the year. At the sale, there are paintings, kitchen utensils, outdoor furniture and many other things you can think of. Basically, anything that is donated to them for the sale.
And of course, me being the book nerd, I always go straight to the books. Being a quarter a piece, I always scour the table looking for things to read. Some of them aren’t that great, to be honest as many of them look like they’ve been sitting out in a damp garage for many years. And yet I can always find a few good things that I can bring home with me. There are always some books that have been kept in good homes.
The titles I found were:
- Have a Little Faith by Mitch Albom
- Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis
- Lily’s Crossing by Patricia Reilly Giff
- Their Eyes were Watching God by Zara Neale Hurston
- Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
- Mississippi Blood by Greg Isles
Plus some Patchwork Mysteries and Grace Chapel Inn Mysteries for my mom. I’ve read Have a Little Faith, Lily’s Crossing, and Pride and Prejudice before, but the copies were so nice that I couldn’t resist buying them to re-read. Since my boyfriend and I are reading more books together, I’m always on the lookout to see what books the two of us could enjoy together. I know he’ll enjoy Have a Little Faith and Mere Christianity (the latter I need to read myself) and Mississippi Blood looks like a mystery we could both delve in together. I never thought I’d become interested in mysteries and thrillers, but I’ve become hooked after picking up Jack Reacher books again.
