The 20 Questions Book Tag.

Google Images.

I originally found this book tag on Paper Fury. So without further ado, let’s jump right into it, shall we?

1. How many books are too many for a series?

As long as there’s still a compelling story going and the author has a good outline going, then I think a series can have as many books in the series as he or she wants. I don’t read too many series any more because I don’t want to be committed, especially if there’s a lot of books in the series (take Wheel of Time for example, I’m still working on that decades later.)

2. How do you feel about cliffhangers?

I like them. It makes you intrigued and want to get to the next book as quickly as possible. But I don’t like them if the follow up book falls short of the cliffhanger’s expectations. I hate underwhelming sequels, am I right? Looking at you Rick Yancey and The 5th Wave (sooo disappointed after the first book.)

3. Hardbacks or paperbacks?

If I love the book and want to keep it, I want the hardback, but if I’m reading it and want to take it places with me, then I want the paperback. ^_^

4. Favorite book?

Hard decision. Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Atonement, Never Let Me Go, If I Stay…I have a favorite book for every mood I’m in.

5. Least favorite book?

I didn’t like Chime a whole lot. I don’t remember the author. I won’t read 50 Shades of Grey because ew. Eh…I hate a few least favorites over the years. I just can’t think of them off the top of my head at the moment.

6. Love triangles, yes or no?

If they’re well written, yes? The YA authors have overdone this particular trope and I’ve gone off of them.

7. The most recent book you did not finish?

A Castle in Wartime by Catherine Bailey. I thought it was a follow up to her previous nonfiction book The Secret Rooms, but it wasn’t. It’s about another person living in a castle in Italy manning a resistance against the Nazis. I’m sure it’s good, but I was just so disappointed I didn’t finish it, plus she kept going back and forth between different major players.

8. A book you’re currently reading?

The Mountain Between Us by Charles Martin.
You know, the one they made a movie of a couple years ago with Iris Elba and Kate Winslet? Yep, it was a book first. I haven’t seen the movie yet, but the book is good so far. Think an adult version of Hatchet. With a love story. Yeah. I hope they live.

9. Last book you recommended to someone?

I told someone who was checking out Where the Crawdads Sing that it was a good book. Is that considered a recommendation?

10. Oldest book you’ve read by publication date?

Mm…probably Pride and Prejudice or Oliver Twist. And I read Jack London. So those are old, right? I used to love classics, I haven’t read them since college, sad to say.

11. Newest book you read by publication date?

Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. Great book, by the way.

12. Favorite author?

Huh…I don’t know if I have a favorite author at the moment. I have favorite books however. I did like J.K. Rowling while she was popular. Charles Frazier is good though I’ve only read one book by him.

13. Buying books or borrowing them?

I do both, though I like buying them so I can have more time to read them.

14. A book you dislike that everyone seems to love?

50 Shades of Grey. Do I even need to read it to dislike it? Haha.

15. Bookmarks or dog ears?

Well, duh, bookmarks. I don’t like damaging my books. Sacrilege.

16. A book you can always re-read.

Me Before You by JoJo Moyes and Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. The way they write is just comforting.

17. Can you read while listening to music?

Not really. I need quiet to focus. If music is on, I find myself paying attention to music more than anything else.

18. One POV or multiple?

One POV mostly. I can’t seem to concentrate and keep people straight during multiple POVS. Though I’ll read them sometimes.

19. Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days?

I tend to read them over multiple days. Unless I’m really sucked in then I can read most of it in one day.

20. Who do you tag?

I don’t know…I just decided to go for it. If you haven’t done the 20 questions book tag yet, then tag me so I can read your answers!
