When you meet a stranger,
they sometimes feel aloof-
How do you crack a shell
of something that doesn’t
want to break?
When you meet a stranger,
they sometimes open a smile
so big you are swallowed in their warmth.
They let you in like
a family member long lost,
now found.
When you meet a stranger,
you don’t know who they are,
a stranger who is of many things
still unknown.
Is it a wonder then
we often feel alone,
disconnected from the world
we want,
when outside is full of strangers
who are willing to be of help?
