Briana and Krysta over at Pages Unbound are hosting a discussion for the following question:
What classic book should get a film/tv adaptation?
I feel as if most books and classics are getting film adaptations these days, so it’s hard to pick something that hasn’t been done before, but I’ll give it a whirl.
1. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
I know they already did this book way back when with Gregory Peck, but I think it’d be timely to do another adaptation, just to see what some contemporary directors and actors would do with it.
2. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
This has also been done a million times, but I’d like to see a movie with some modern well known actors. Then maybe I’d actually pick the film up and watch it.
3. Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens
This is my favorite book of all time. I never saw the musical/original movie, so I’d like to see a new film adaptation.
4. Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
I’d love to see this as a movie/film adaptation. I know there’s an older adaptation and people are pretty passionate about it, but I usually have an aversion to older classic adaptations. They’re usually boring and daft (I’m one of those people who HATE the Colin Firth Pride and Prejudice, fight me.)
5. The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum
I want this book to be adapted into a film so bad. I love the book and I really didn’t like the movie version of it. So I’m anxious to see a new adaptation of it.
