I dislike the new wordpress post editor…

I know I’m complaining, but I feel like I’m not the only one who has so much struggle. In fact, I read another blog post with the person saying s/he was having the same problems. I’d link the post here, but I can’t remember where I read it now.

WordPress forced me to change to the block editor format for writing posts and I don’t like it. When it was first introduced a year ago (?), I immediately switched back to the classic editor because I didn’t like it. And this morning I came on to write and discovered that it’s forced me to change at last. Why, WordPress, why? Why keep changing a good thing? I can’t insert images easily or even insert headings like I used to be able to without so much struggle. Now I’m struggling. On my iPad, I’m still able to use the classic editor in the WordPress app, but who knows how long that’s going to last. I just don’t get it.

Anyway, has WordPress forced anyone else to change over yet? Do you like the change or do you wish it could be changed back?

  1. I hate it to the point where I told WordPress that if I couldn’t use the Classic editor, I’d blog somewhere else. I don’t use the app to write, but do it through the website instead on my iPad. Before every post, I write /classic, and that lets me use the Classic block, which still isn’t ideal, but it’s close enough.

  2. I voluntarily switched over when the opportunity first came up just so I could get used to it before being forced to switch. Because I knew I’d hate it at first and it would take time to get used to it. But it turns out it’s extremely similar to the editor my company uses for our website, so it didn’t take me too long to get used to the same format for my personal blog. If I had my druthers, I’d return to the previous editor, but I can deal with things as they are.
