I watched Anaconda for the first time last night.
That had to be the dumbest movie on the face of the planet.
If you’ve never seen it, here’s a brief summary:
A film crew goes down to the Amazon rain forest only to be captured by an evil snake hunter who wants to use them and their boat to find the infamous and elusive anaconda. And of course, this is supposed to be a horror movie, so not only does the crew have to survive the snake hunter, they also have to survive the snake attacks. Because for some reason, this anaconda is wicked fast and can zero in on you even when you move to hide and attack you.
I mean, really? Haha.
The snake was obviously fake. I don’t know if it was completely digitized or if they made a fake model as well, but it was a 90’s film creation to be sure.
There were big name actors in this as well: Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Owen Wilson, Join Voigt. Even though a couple of them (if not all) are good actors, their performances were very stiff and laughable.
Apparently a lot of movie enthusiasts love this movie despite knowing it’s obvious flaws. I suppose if someone watched it when it first came out, then it could be a sense of nostalgia for the viewer. But having seen this in 2020, all I saw was the goofiness of it all. I haven’t seen any mention of it being remade in the near future, but knowing Hollywood, I’m sure they’re going to give it a go at some point. I can only hope the animations and acting will improve since then.
Has anyone seen this movie and what are your thoughts on it?
