My husband and I decided that we wanted to try some fresh and new dinners, so we ordered three meals for this week from HelloFresh. On Monday, I cooked Bulgogi pork tenderloin and lime rice. The prep work took a little bit longer than what I expected, but the results were delicious.
Basically, you browned the pork tenderloins–they recommended in a skillet, but I used our electric one–then you cooked the rice and the carrots (seasoned with salt and pepper) for 15 and 10 minutes respectively, then once the pork tenderloins were browned and the carrots were done, you put the tenderloins (also seasoned with salt and pepper) in the oven and was cooked with the carrots for another 10 minutes. I did it for an extra 5 minutes because I didn’t want to sit there and brown the tenderloins as I didn’t see that step until after the carrots were nearly done. While this is cooking, you cook diced onions until they’re very soft, then add bulgogi sauce and a dash of salt. After everything is cooked, you fluff up the rice, added a squirt of lime and you’re all ready to eat.
I’m not much of a cook, but after it was all done, I was quite pleased with myself for how it turned out. The food was delicious; even the carrots weren’t overcooked that much, just right.
Last night, my husband cooked the balsamic fig chicken, so I wasn’t quite sure how it was cooked, but essentially you baked the potatoes in the often, grilled the chicken and made the balsamic fig sauce. It even came with a side of salad. We didn’t like the salad as much; it called for salt and olive oil and since we didn’t have the olive oil, we used vegetable oil as a substitute and it tasted a bit salty, but still good.
